# Vision Intranet System
Vistion
is a template based intranet system productized for the world
markets. This has evolved out of generic corporate need worldwide
for fairly consistent intranet systems that need to be implemented
fast and where maintenance should be low resource hungry and
quick.
The
product is being built with a wide spectrum of features such as
video conferencing, IP-telephony, and voice over mail/facsimile,
chat rooms, email, company related information (profile, projects,
manpower skill set, methodology adopted for project handling
including in-depth analysis of system requirement specifications,
data flow diagram, design document, testing methods,
documentation.).
The
concept is brought out in such a form that any company has to only
transplant its corresponding information and ideologies and than
attach the same as its extranet.
# VOIP (Voice Over Internet
Protocol)
It
is a fact that an employee spends about 32% of his job time in job
communication where as he spends just 13% of his time for doing
actual work. Here the VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL comes in to play
a significant role for the benefit of the employee's and the
management of a company
Problem Analysis: In an organization the
user of a computer with multimedia communicating with the other
users having multimedia facility in the same organization and also
with other users outside the organization with this 'VOICE OVER
INTERNET PROTOCOL'. The conversion of format for audio and video in
accordance with the card has to be developed for the system.
The
scenario of transmission of data is it audio or video will be looked
upon in this project. The caller's identity has to be cautiously
monitored for a perfect communication. The use of Java media player
API is to be used to develop Java programs that presents time based
media. All in all we need to provide a unified architecture and
messaging protocol for managing the time-based media.
Functional Analysis: For the functioning
of VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL we thought to use JAVA MEDIA
FRAMEWORK. The JAVA MEDIA FRAMEWORK includes JMF-STUDIO.
In
addition to this we extensively use java.net along with Java
development Kit 1.2. The capturing of media is it audio and video is
essentially the crux of the implementation. The designing of very
scintillating GUI, which provide easy and enhanced user, interfaces
which also provide quality and reliable communication through the
user interfaces.
We
use RTP (real time transport protocol) and UDP (user data gram
protocol) for the communication between multimedia systems.
UDP
is faster than TCP/IP, which is why we preferred UDP to TCP/IP for
this VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL. RTP enables the transmission and
reception of real-time media streams across the network. RTP can be
used for media on demand applications as well as interactive
services such as Internet telephony once the connection is
established the sender has to wait for a maximum of one minute and
then send voice mail.
G.723
is typically used to produce low bit rate speech for telephony
applications. Saving the received messages for further
Correspondence should be done in accordance with the audio and video
Format. Special care has to be taken to save a message in a suitable
format.
# Personal Software Process
This
package has been developed based on the guidelines provided by Watts
Humphrey at SEI (Software Engineering Institute) CMU, with the
objective of applying CMM (Capability Maturity Model) framework to
small projects. It is useful to deliver the high quality software
with in the given time and budget constrains, consistently and
efficiently. It can be applied at all phases of software life cycle
development and is best suited for small organizations and
individual practices. The main essence of the project involves in
keeping track of the time taken and defects encountered during the
various stages of the project such as Planning, Design, Coding, Code
review, Compiling, Testing and Post-mortem. During the initial
stages of a project the estimated times are entered which are later
on compared with the actual values. Standard formulas have been used
to calculate the Defects injected/KDSI (Kilo Delivered Source
Instructions), Yield and Appraisal/Failure Ratio. It helps
in:
1.
Estimation of project duration and phase-wise
duration 2.
Estimation of defects
3.
Time Management
4.
Defect logging
5.
Generation of Project plan summary
6.
Generation of defect log summary
# Mail Server
This
package has been developed based on the guidelines provided by Sun
Java Mail API (Application Program Interface). Basically the overall
scenario of this package is to fill all the needs of the mail
system. It's a generalized product to any web-based application
i.e., portals.
Most
of the mailing system was developed in CGI/Perl but those mails does
not support IMAP based mail-accounts. But our mail system will
support IMAP as well as POP3 (Post Office Protocol) and SMTP (Simple
Mail Transfer Protocol).
Our
Mail System consists of three distinct components: a "User Agent"
that lets users read and compose mail, a "Transport Agent" that
forwards messages among machines, and a "Delivery agent" that places
messages in the receiving users mailboxes. Exhibit a shows the
relationship of these components.
# Logistics Management
This
is a sample product, Transportation Logistic Management System, for
an organisation having their Transportation department in the
following operational areas;
1.
Allotment 2.
Workshop 3.
Inventory Management (Stores &
Purchase) 4.
Accounts
5.
Personnel
Overall
Technology related to the solution is a Client/Server Technology
using SQL Server (Back End) and Visual Basic As the client (Front
End).
